Today the Holy Father accepted the resignation of the Most Rev. John J. Nevins from the pastoral care of the Diocese of Venice, FL where he has served as bishop for 22 years.  Bishop Nevins resignation was accepted on the day of his 75th birthday.

Bishop Nevins is succeeded by Bishop Frank Dewane, Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Venice, whom Bishop Nevins consecrated as bishop in July of 2006.  We wish Bishop Nevins the best of luck in his retirement and ask God’s blessing upon Bishop Dewane as he begins his ministry as chief shepherd in the Diocese of Venice
